Veteran filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has revealed that he plans to return to television in 2023 to direct an eight-episode series. He revealed the plans during a New York event hosted by Elvis Mitchell on Wednesday night, during the promotion of his most recent book, Cinema Speculation.
Earlier this year, Tarantino partnered with Netflix to release 2015’s “The Hateful Eight” episode by episode. As for Tarantino’s television work, he was previously credited for his episodes of “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” based on the movie he directed with Robert Rodriguez. He was also a writer and director for two episodes of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” in 2005 and had the pleasure of directing one episode of “E.R.” in 1995, as well as playing a role in a two-parter of ” Alias” in 2011.
In a recent interview with “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” writer-director, he revealed that his long-rumored 10th film exists more in a gray area, questioning: What is cinema if not in a movie theater? In Tarantino’s opinion, a 30-day theatrical window before debuting on a streamer would “diminish [his] returns” on a feature film, hence the move to TV. However, Tarantino also implied streaming films wouldn’t really count as final features.
Nevertheless, Quentin Tarantino announced that his final film will be entirely original and that he once contemplated adapting Elmore Leonard’s novel “Stick” for a film, but it will not be his “magnum opus.” But since Tarantino’s tenth film appears to be an entirely new work, “Kill Bill 3” appears to have been ruled out ..”
