James Gunn, CEO of DC Studios, has stated that he hopes Chris Pratt and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast to join his new DCU slate.
When Gunn initially moved to DC, he recruited Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn, both of whom had previously been in the Marvel films, for The Suicide Squad. Now, both Chukwudi Iwuji and Daniela Melchior, with whom he has worked on previous DC projects, joined him in his return to Marvel for Guardians Vol. 3.
Since Gunn has committed to staying at DC Studios as the architect of the next DCU slate, fans are wondering which of his Marvel colleagues might be coming along for the journey, especially since Vol. 3 will conclude the story for this particular cast of the Guardians.
James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and co-CEO of DC Studios, has hinted in a recent interview with Empire that Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, and several other Guardians actors will “probably” join his new superhero universe
This cast are like my family. I cannot tell you how close I am to Chris Pratt and Pom [Klementieff] and Dave [Bautista] and Zoe [Saldaña] and Karen [Gillan]. But I also know I will work again with all those people individually again. Probably at my other job.”
Even though he didn’t elaborate on his remarks, fans and speculators alike can have a field day imagining their favourite MCU actors playing DC Comics heroes and villains.
As Gunn’s last MCU picture, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will also be the last time we see this particular squad of heroes together on the big screen. Bautista, who plays Drax, acknowledged as much, saying the upcoming film will be his last in the role.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released exclusively in theatres on May 5.
