A release date has been set for David Fincher’s upcoming film “The Killer”. The director, who was nominated for three Academy Awards and whose last film was 2020’s Mank, will adapt the French graphic novel series The Killer for his next feature. His noir thriller will be available on Netflix beginning on November 10, 2023.
The Killer graphic novel series was created by Alexis Nolent, writing as Matz, and Luc Jacamon, an artist. Between 1998 and 2013, twelve books were released as part of this series. The books follow an assassin with no name who, after years of being the best at what he does, begins to crack and suffers from a psychiatric crisis. The main character will be played by Michael Fassbender. In fact, this will be his first movie since “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” in 2019.

The script was adapted by Andrew Kevin Walker, and Fincher will be directing the film. Walker, who was nominated for a BAFTA, collaborated with Fincher on the script for Se7en. Other films he has written include Sleepy Hollow and Windfall. Fassbender will be joined by Charles Parnell, Arliss Howard, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton in The Killer.
The Killer is the latest collaboration between Fincher and Netflix. The streaming service also has his recent film, Mank, and his series Mindhunter. Fincher originally agreed to direct this adaptation back in 2009, so a lot of time has passed. Paramount was the initial home of the film, but the director recently negotiated a four-year deal with Netflix, thus the movie will now be shown on Netflix instead.
