The Critics’ Choice Awards 2023 were held on Sunday evening at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, with Everything Everywhere All At Once, Better Call Saul, and Abbott Elementary taking home the most awards.
The Indian film RRR also won Awards for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song (for the song “Naatu Naatu”).
The Banshees of Inisherin, which earned nine nominations but won none, and Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, which earned eleven nominations but won only one, are just two examples of the films that did not do as well at this ceremony as they did at others including the Golden Globes, during awards season.
With 14 nominations, Everything Everywhere All at Once from A24 led the pack at the annual presentation, followed by Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans with 11 awards. On television, the ABC blockbuster comedy Abbott Elementary topped the list with six nominations, followed by the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul with five.
This year’s 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards ceremony was hosted by Chelsea Handler, and in addition to Jeff Bridges receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, Janelle Monáe also received an award.
